These molds seem to be made of quality plastic. They are cute. We recently watched YT videos about bento boxes and it include creating eggs into fun shapes. We couldn't wait to try it. The molds are made in Japan and the instruction is also in Japanese so expect to get the how-to somewhere else.
Make sure not to scratch the egg while removing the shell. You have to put it in the mold while still hot. It is impossible to peel it while hot so the trick is too peel it under running faucet. I place the egg in upright position and close it gently. It is OK to have some part of the egg to squeeze out, bigger egg is actually better than a small one to make sure you fill every nook of the mold. Snap the latch and place the egg in the refrigerator for about ten minutes. You can also color the egg if you immerse it into water with food color on it for a few minutes. Really fun, specially if you have kids in the house.

The most important meal of the day can also be the most fun. Kids will love to get in on the cooking action when they can shape their hard-boiled eggs into funny shapes. Kotobuki's easy-to-use egg mold works like magic on a just-cooked egg. Place the shelled hard-boiled egg into the mold bottom, slowly close the top and secure. Then place egg and mold into cold water for 10 minutes, and voila! Slowly open the mold to reveal an egg with a new look. Sold in sets of two different shapes, this set includes the Fish and the Car. Rabbit, Bear, Heart, and Star shapes are sold separately. The mold measures 3 by 3 inches, just right for little hands. It's safe to use with temperatures between -4 degrees F and 248 degrees F. The molds need hand washing for care and make great stocking stuffers, birthday gifts for budding chefs, and presents to brighten any ordinary day.
